Somewhere in the Sun
WHO WE ARE
We are the dream solution for self-managed STR owners! Over time, we've built a network of cleaners, handymen, plumbers, electricians, and other service providers on the island. We created Somewhere in the Sun LLC to streamline these services into one platform, offering packages that will save you money on your bottom line. The only thing we don't do is set your prices or take commissions from your rental profits. However, as an STR owner myself, I’m happy to guide you through the software tools that can help you set pricing automatically!

ADVANTAGES OF USING OUR SERVICES OVER TRADITIONAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANIES

-
No commission: We do not take 10-20% of your rental income as a commission.

-
STR tax strategy: We are not classified as property managers, meaning all billing is categorized as service calls, cleaning, etc., allowing you to take advantage of the STR tax loophole and keep more of your earnings.

-
Predictable costs: By subscribing to one of our monthly service packages, you’ll know exactly what you can expect to pay for cleaning and property upkeep. Our packages include service calls, hours of labor, and allowances for small repairs—saving you money by covering minor issues with no additional billing.

-
Owner expertise: As an STR owner myself, I understand what makes a guest’s stay great and how our services impact your rental algorithm. We incentivize our team with bonuses for 5-star reviews and Superhost status—it’s important to us, too!

-
24/7 support: We’re committed to ensuring your guests have a great stay, with fast service available around the clock. Our goal is to help you succeed, because as STR owners, many of us are relying on this investment for our retirement, children’s education, and family’s future.

WHY WE WERE CREATED
As a self-managed short-term rental (STR) owner, I struggled to find a way to profit from my property while still having the necessary support to manage the property as an out-of-town host. I worked with some of the best management companies on the island, which were great but very expensive. These companies took 10-20% of rental profits, on top of cleaning fees, service calls, appliance replacement charges, and various other upcharges. I was also disheartened when my CPA informed me that having a company classified as a property manager disqualified me from the STR tax loophole, costing me tens of thousands of dollars annually.
